You can do anything. But you can’t do everything. – David Allen

This was my favorite quote from a very quotable episode of @aliontherun1. Ali and her guest, @katieburke16, discussed some of the best ways to take care of you. This podcast episode was so refreshing. The conversation went far beyond the typical definition of self-care (no mention of naps or bubble baths, just practical ways you can make sure to take care of YOU). Amen!

So back to the quote: You can do anything. But you can’t do everything.

When I first heard this quote, my brain was flooded with thoughts about work, motherhood, and running. It’s been a week since I listened to the episode. Over the past 6 days, I’ve really lived by this mantra. Here’s how I’m putting it into action:

  • Running: Continue to focus on endurance. Speed will come later. Commit to manageable goals in my training plan, like practicing yoga twice a week.

  • Motherhood: Ask for help. Stop the comparison game. Embrace the journey and accept that I can’t do it all (the house will be messy, the kids will sometimes eat cereal for dinner, and we won't have Pinterest-worthy Valentine's Day decorations).

  • Work: Don’t be afraid to say no. Continue to set boundaries and take on projects that I’m passionate about.
